Natural Stone Restoration | The Osprey Hotel

In August 2022, we were approached by the Osprey Hotel in Co. Kildare regarding the cleaning, restoration and sealing of their natural stone floors, including the entrance to the main reception & staircase to the lower ground lobby.

Having previously attempted to deep clean the stone tiles and grout themselves, the Hotel soon realised the complexity and scale of the job at hand and called in the professionals. Stone Seal.

Due to years of wear and tear, the natural stone floors at the Osprey Hotel had become dull and lifeless. Notable damage had occurred to the natural stone surface where pitting had gathered grime and staining from spills and general cleaning made the floor look dull and lifeless. After face-to-face consultation with our Natural Stone Expert, Stone Seal drew up a plan to provide a robust, clean, safe, eco-friendly and time-sensitive solution to the problem.

Over the course of 4 nights, our highly skilled and dedicated technicians, worked tirelessly to strip and remove the existing stone of all impurities with a specialist deep clean that respects the existing stonework causing zero damage in the process.

Our team of experts then provided emergency repairs to the damaged tile & grout in a delicate process that required immense patience and precision. Once cleaned and repaired, the Stone and Grout were then refined to a high-shine polish, bringing the natural beauty to the surface and improving the aesthetic quality of the stone.

Finally, with the Stone and Grout sparkling like new, the final and most important step of all was applied, Sealing. A high-grade specially formulated natural stone penetrative sealer was applied to seal the newly achieved sparkling finish and leave the floors both visually appealing and easier to maintain going forward.

Stone Seal combines the use of eco-friendly products and methods that don’t cause any damage to natural stone and grout with special preservation techniques that not only provide a clean, but rejuvenated surface to Natural Stone but also minimises water usage and further protect the surfaces.

We did this all at night-time when foot traffic was at a minimum to avoid disruption to guests and staff at the busy Kildare hotel.

As with all of our heavy-duty Natural Stone restoration projects, we provided the Maintenance Manager with a comprehensive maintenance plan and schedule as well as a complimentary specially formulated, bespoke natural stone floor cleaner to help with future maintenance and ensure that the stone remains protected and shining like new for longer.
